The Road from Pine Breeze Jo Price Elizabeth Long 9780578069975 Books Reviews
I loved the story of Jo with all her difficulties and all the different ways she was guided by God. Elizabeth Long did a very good job of putting it all together. I know it helped that they were friends. It actually read like a fiction boook and I was rooting for her to get back with Buck so we coud have a happy ending.
What a great inspirational true story! I would like to give it more than 5 stars. A book I will keep on my shelf forever. I loved reading this and am passing it around to my friends. My Sister lived in Ringgold Ga and attended one of the churches where Jo attended and purchased the book. It is very well written, non-stop twists and turns, and you just have to love and admire Jo Price after reading it. Someone I would be honored to meet, but glad I could meet her through her book. God bless her and her family.
I must say that reading this book was like sitting in a brightly lit kitchen with a good friend. It was so personally candid and refreshing to see a "church lady" with the courage to admit defeats, heartbreaks, confusion and yet maintain her sense of humor and love for God, life and her family. I enjoyed the fact that each chapter took me to a different shared experience that I could taste, smell and feel. It was a roller coaster of highs and lows and so many surprises that I could not wait to see what the next chapter in her life would be. This book inspired me to live my life with integrity, love and plenty of laughter. It reminded me to create my own memories with my family. And that memories well told will impact and last a life time and beyond into eternity with our Lord. Thanks Betty for the great writing. Thanks Jo for living your life story out loud for all the world to enjoy and be blessed by! Our Lord must be smiling each time a person opens up this book!
I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be encouraged and inspired.

I met Mrs. Jo on my morning walk about a couple months back. She gave me the book and even signed it for me. I couldn't put it down as it had such inspirational story to it. I felt like I was there as I had been earlier when she opened up her home and personally revealed her life story to me. I have been back to see her and I just love seeing her. As I leave her driveway I rejoice in the Lord all the way home. It has really helped me walk a closer walk with God. Thank you Jo for being on this wonderful journey with me.
I reluctantly finished reading this book Thursday evening. It is an amazing story of strength, courage, sadness and joy. Jo truly has experienced the highs and lows of life along side the closest of friends - Jesus! Jo and her story are truly an inspiration.
I had not heard of Jo before reading this book, but now I would dearly love to meet her and listen to her tell the story, over and over.
Jo and Elizabeth have put in to words a very real portrait of life and the secret for living it well - trusting on God.
Thank you, for carrying this book.
Jo Price, with Elizabeth Long, have brought together the beautiful story of Jo's life! As a 16 year old girl, Jo contracted TB, and was taken to the Pine Breeze Sanitorium to rest and heal. I was especially interested in her story because my grandmother also spent time at Pine Breeze. She told me much about the hospital when I was just a child. But I've always wanted to know more about how the disease (TB) was treated in the 1930s and 1940s.
I found the story delightful. Jo honestly talked about her difficulties, her hardships, and her sickness. But throughout all the trials that faced her, she kept her faith in God. I was impressed at how she always reached out with a Christian witness to all those people she met on her life journey.
Read this book--it is very well-written, insightful, encouraging for your own journey, and uplifting! I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned much from it. I give it 5 stars! Denise George
